So here is my first layout for C'est Magnifique as part of
my Guest Designer duties there for September HERE!
The papers & embellishments made it really easy to work
with this kit - everything included was just up my street!
Lots of fussy-cutting opportunities & we also got a
couple of mists {one in the main kit & one with the
embellishment add-on} so I had fun creating some artsy
backgrounds too with gessoing, mists, stencils & drips.
LOVED the giant chipboard birdcage that came with the
embellishment add-on! Cut mine right down the centre
before painting it up with some layers & crackle.
See those banners above? They come in the embellishment add-on
& I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you snag yourself one! You get a
WHOLE PACK of Heidi Swapp 'Banner Delights!' which have a
resist design on them (in this case above it's spots) & you
simply mist or swipe over with an ink pad in the colour of your choice.
These papers are beautifully subtle and took the inks and gesso
really well so I built up my backgrounds with various different
mixed media 'art journaly' type of effects.
Copied and pasted from the C'est Magnifique blog HERE.
I'll admit that when I saw the black based paper with the "Todays Special"
I wasn't sure how to use it! The text referred to cooking which certainly
isn't my strong point - I much prefer to scrap! Then it suddenly came
to me when I saw this photo of my youngest daughter, Cami, with her
12th birthday cake.
I loved inking up the mistable banners from the kit {so versatile as you
can make them any color you like and they add such a festive feel to a page!}
& I added some youthful "zing" to my page by using the banner packaging
{the dynamic black and white striped card at the top and bottom of my page}.
I used plenty of mists again & cut the chipboard birdcage directly down the
middle so that I could use it to frame my photo. It made for a really interesting
page I think!
